If you want to set a time limit, check <strong>Enable<\/strong> in the \"Time limit\" area and add the time limit. Setting a time limit can help prevent online quizzes from being too easy.<\/li>\n<li>In the \"Grade\" section, set the\u00a0number of \"Attempts\u00a0allowed.\" Typically this is set to 1, but you may wish to allow multiple attempts in some scenarios or even unlimited attempts for a practice\/self-assessment quiz. If allowing multiple attempts, be sure to select <strong>Highest grade<\/strong> or <strong>Average grade<\/strong> for the \"Grading method.\" You may also decide what constitutes a \"Passing grade,\" which can be useful to reserve more advanced content until a learner demonstrates proficiency.<\/li>\n<li class=\"number5\">In the \"Question behaviour\" section, setting \"Shuffle within questions\" to <strong>Yes<\/strong> (the default) will shuffle the answer order for multiple choice and matching questions. Shuffling can be useful to prevent cheating, but watch out for questions with answers like \"Both A &amp; B\", or \"All of the above,\" which should either be rewritten or should not be shuffled.<\/li>\n<li>In the \"Review options\" section, set what and when you want feedback to be available to students. <strong>During the attempt<\/strong> means while taking the quiz, <strong>Immediately after the attempt<\/strong> means right after submitting, <strong>Later, while the quiz is still open<\/strong> means not right after submitting, but while the quiz is still open, and <strong>After the quiz is closed<\/strong> means after the quiz is closed and can no longer be attempted. Some instructors may prefer to hide feedback, right answers, or even the whole attempt until after the quiz is closed.<\/li>\n<li class=\"number7\">Keep the other options at their default settings and click <strong>Save and display<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"steps-section\">\n<h2 class=\"steps-top\">\n<div class=\"altblock\"><span>Part<br \/>3<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"kb-headline\">Add questions to the quiz<\/span><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"new-steps\">\n<li>After you click\u00a0<strong>Save and display<\/strong>, you will be taken to a screen that looks like the screenshot below. Click <strong>Edit quiz<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/moodleuserguides.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/quiz-need-to-edit2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1308\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Enter the points possible in the \"Maximum grade\" field (default is 10 points).<\/li>\n<li>Select one of the options from the \"Add\" drop-down. <strong>+ a new question<\/strong> means create a new question and add it to the quiz, <strong>+ from question bank<\/strong> means retrieve specific question(s) from your question bank, and <strong>+ a random question<\/strong> means choose random question(s) from your question bank. Adding a subset of your question bank questions as random questions can help prevent cheating on quizzes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"steps-section\">\n<h2 class=\"steps-top\">\n<div class=\"altblock\"><span>Part<br \/>4<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"kb-headline\">Review<\/span><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"new-steps\">\n<li>Take a preview attempt of your quiz by clicking <strong>Preview<\/strong> under the \"Quiz administration\" menu. This will let you test your quiz and help ensure a smooth experience for students.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate your quiz by clicking <strong>Reports<\/strong> under the \"Quiz Administration\" menu.
