You must first <a href=\"http:\/\/moodleuserguides.org\/guides\/add-a-grade-item-to-the-gradebook\/\">create a gradebook item<\/a> or the Moodle activity you want to use as extra credit, then follow the steps below.\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"no-second\">\n<p>this text will be removed<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"steps-section\">\n<h2 class=\"steps-top-full\">\n<span class=\"kb-steps\">Steps<\/span><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"new-steps\">\n<li>Click <strong>Gradebook setup<\/strong> from the \"Course administration\" menu.<\/li>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-317 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/moodleuserguides.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1-gradebook-setup.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Locate the grade item or activity you want to make extra credit and select <strong>Edit settings<\/strong> from the \"Edit\" drop-down.<\/li>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-318 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/moodleuserguides.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/2-edit-gradebook-item-settings.png\" alt=\"review text for instructions\" \/><\/p>\n<li>In the settings, check the <strong>Extra credit<\/strong> checkbox in the \"Parent category\" section.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Save changes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-319 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/moodleuserguides.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/3-tick-extra-credit.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<li>You now have an extra credit item, as denoted by the\u00a0<strong>+<\/strong> symbol in the \"Max grade\" column. Note that the available points in the max grade column will no longer be counted in the sum total of points available. The weight of the extra credit is expressed as a percentage in the\u00a0\"Weight\" column.
