Oftentimes, however, you may wish to add a standalone grade item to the Moodle gradebook. This essentially adds an item to your gradebook that is not associated with any online activity in Moodle. This is often used to track grades for \"intangible\" student work like class participation or in-class presentations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"steps-section\">\n<h2 class=\"steps-top-full\">\n<span class=\"kb-steps\">Steps<\/span><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"new-steps\">\n<li>From your \"Course administration\" menu, click <strong>Gradebook setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-317 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/moodleuserguides.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1-gradebook-setup-283x300.png\" alt=\"\" \/>.<\/p>\n<li>Scroll to the bottom of the set-up screen and click <strong>Add grade item<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-325\" src=\"http:\/\/moodleuserguides.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/click-add-grade-item.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<li>Enter a name in the \"Item name\" field.<\/li>\n<li>You'll probably want to keep the \"Grade type\" at the default <strong>Value<\/strong> setting. Enter points possible in the \"Maximum grade\" field (default is 100 points).
